Restore Sight.

Restore Freedom.

This Mandela Day, you can be a part of restoring sight to 67 people suffering from cataracts in South Africa.

Mandela Day South Africa

For many in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, blindness steals independence, dignity, and hope. But compassionate people like you can help restore all three through safe, sight-saving surgery.

When Nosajini was just 67 years old, blindness stole more than her sight—it took her independence and sense of safety. “I am too young to be blind. I was confused and scared. I can’t walk outside alone anymore because I am worried I will fall and break my leg. I am afraid to use the stove, because I can’t see anything and might start a fire or burn myself,” said Nosajini.

While her grandchildren were at school, Nosajini sat alone and prayed, thinking, If only I could see.

But because friends like you donated, she received the cataract surgery she never could have afforded on her own.

Today, joy fills her heart. She walks her grandchildren to school, waves goodbye, cooks meals for when they return, and tends her garden again.

“I can see everywhere,” she says. “My body came back to life.”

Mandela Dy- South Africa
  • We believe every person deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, independence, and hope.
  • Through our Life-Changing Surgeries program, we help connect children and adults suffering from treatable conditions like cataracts, cleft lip and palate, congenital heart disease, and more, with the medical care they desperately need.
  • We work alongside trusted local doctors and medical partners to bring healing to communities where quality healthcare is often out of reach.
  • Restoring sight does more than improve vision. It allows grandparents to care for their families, parents to return to work, and loved ones to reclaim the everyday moments that bring joy and purpose.
  • Your generosity helps turn prayers into miracles, bringing hope, healing, and renewed independence to people like Nosajini.

PRAY FOR HEALING

Remarkable things happen when we pray. As you lift up those suffering from cataracts in South Africa, may these Scriptures remind you of God’s power to restore, comfort, and renew.

And as you pray for others, don’t forget to bring your own needs before Him. Whether you’re praying for a loved one facing illness, seeking comfort during a difficult season, or believing God for healing in your own life, may these promises from His Word strengthen your faith and remind you that He is near.

Return to these verses throughout the week as a simple devotional, and join us in believing for healing, restoration, and answered prayer.

Mark 5:34 – “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

Isaiah 29:18 – “In that day the deaf shall hear the words of a book, and out of their gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind shall see.”

Jeremiah 30:17 – “But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord, ‘because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares.’”

Jeremiah 33:6 – “Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.”

Matthew 9:29-30 – Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”; and their sight was restored…

James 5:15 – And the Prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up…

Luke 18:42-43 – Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God…

Mandela Day - South Africa

Blindness doesn’t only affect one person. Children often miss school to care for aging loved ones. Families lose income, mobility, and independence. Many simply lose hope that help will ever come.
