Bible Scriptures about Easter

Easter is a special time of celebration. Winter is finally passing, and spring has arrived. But for believers, Easter Sunday is far more meaningful than egg hunts, colorful baskets, and baby bunnies. It is the day we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Easter reminds us of God’s promise of redemption—the reason why Jesus was born, lived on this earth, and died. He paid the ultimate price for our sin, and His resurrection conquered death once and for all, so that we could spend eternity with Him in heaven. “For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life” (John 6:40).

Resurrection Sunday—or Easter—is the day we celebrate the hope of our eternal salvation. We reflect on Jesus’s death on the cross (as well as the death of our own sin) and focus on the new life that He has given us through His resurrection. “That I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead” (Philippians 3:10-11).

bible passages about the resurrection of Jesus Christ

But Easter doesn’t just serve as a reminder of the life that is to come. It is also an invitation to live in the fullness that Jesus has made possible for us today through our salvation. The cross doesn’t just secure our eternity with God when we die. Jesus’s resurrection opens the door for us to experience a transformation right here on earth. “We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).

This newness of life includes a closer relationship with Jesus—as His children. “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ” (Ephesians 2:13). And as part of His family, we can enjoy the covering of His love, protection, and guidance in our daily lives. That brings joy, peace, and hope not just for eternity, but every day of our lives.

If you have not experienced this new life, it can be yours today. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:19). We hope you will join us in celebrating the real meaning of Easter with us on this special day and every day of the year to come.
