KYRGYZSTAN – Unwanted. That’s what her father once called her. In the cold foothills of Karakol, Kyrgyzstan, a quiet battle was taking place inside Alina. To most, she seemed like a typical teenager, but beneath the surface, her heart ached with loneliness and heartbreak. For years, she carried the quiet belief that she was a mistake, a burden, someone born into the world but never truly welcome.

A Heavy Burden at Home
Alina grew up as the only child in a three-generation household. Her mother worked full time to provide, while her grandmother, disabled and homebound, required daily care. From a young age, Alina stepped in. She cleaned the house, looked after her grandmother, and held everything together. She never complained, but the weight of responsibility slowly shaped her identity, and her father’s words rang deep in her heart. She didn’t feel like a loved and wanted teenager, only someone filling a role affected by loneliness and heartbreak.
When the team at Orphan’s Promise Empower Training Center first met Alina, they saw strength on the surface, but they also sensed a deep sadness behind her smile. They prayed for her and gently invited her into one-on-one mentorship sessions. Little by little, she began to let her guard down.
And then one day, something beautiful happened. As the team shared about God’s love and how He calls us chosen and cherished, Alina’s tears began to fall. That moment marked the beginning of her transformation from loneliness and heartbreak to healing and hope.

Hope through Love and Faith
Because of friends like you, Alina received the food she needed, educational support to help her move forward, and the kind of spiritual guidance that offered healing and hope. Over time, she began to smile more. She made new friends. And eventually, she made the decision to dedicate her life to Jesus.
In her own words, she now knows she is “not a mistake, not a burden, but a miracle of God.”
Your love is bringing more than meals or school supplies to hurting children across the world. Because you choose to care, the most vulnerable are receiving comfort, peace, protection, and an encounter with the love of God.
This Christmas, because of your kindness, Alina walks into the future knowing she is a beloved daughter of her heavenly Father—chosen, seen, and deeply loved.
Thank you for being part of her story.
