Bringing Hope to Families After Hurricane Isaias

Oct 12, 2026

PENSACOLA, FLORIDA — Families across Pensacola are facing the difficult aftermath of Hurricane Isaias, with trees and power lines down, homes damaged and thousands of people still without electricity. For many families, the storm has made even the simplest daily necessities difficult to access. With power outages and concerns about contaminated water, finding a hot meal has become an urgent need for people trying to get through the days ahead.

“We wouldn’t know where we were going to get a hot meal from tonight, to be honest,” Karen, a hurricane survivor, shared. “Our power is out, the water is barely running, and we were told that it’s contaminated as well.” Across the community, families are left wondering how they will meet their basic needs as they begin recovering from the storm.

Families Facing Uncertainty After the Storm

The damage is visible throughout the area. Karl, another hurricane survivor, described the destruction left behind. “Trees down everywhere, power lines, trees in houses, roofs tore off,” he said. “You know, we’ve got some heavy damage here.”

With so many residents without power and unable to cook, families need more than help repairing what was damaged. They need food, clean water and the reassurance that they are not facing this difficult season alone.

Operation Blessing Brings Help and Hope

Operation Blessing’s Global Disaster Response team arrived in Pensacola, partnering with Brownsville Church to serve families affected by the hurricane. With a mobile kitchen and a box truck full of supplies, the team began providing practical assistance to neighbors in need.

For Brownsville Church Pastor Jacob Peterson, knowing Operation Blessing was coming brought immediate peace. “We’re coming,” he recalled hearing from the team. “That immediately gave me peace that said, we’re going to be okay.”

Hot Meals and the Love of Jesus

With thousands of people unable to prepare meals at home, Operation Blessing’s mobile kitchen became a welcome source of relief. Led by OB chef Ryan Yost, the team served hot food to families, with a line of people stretching out to the road. Through meal service and supply distribution, Operation Blessing was able to help more than 400 people.

Hurricane Isaias Volunteer

For Jacob, handing food and water directly to families was an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Karen expressed her gratitude, sharing, “We want to thank you so much for programs like this because we didn’t have anywhere to go honestly.”
