VENEZUELA — For families already facing difficult living conditions, a devastating earthquake can make an already challenging situation even harder. In a remote mountain community in La Guaira State, Venezuela, families are working to recover from the earthquakes that struck the region. With limited resources and many without homes, the road ahead is not easy.
But through friends like you, Operation Blessing is coming alongside these families, helping provide safe shelter and a first step toward recovery.
Building Homes, Rebuilding Hope
Operation Blessing has been responding in Venezuela since the devastating earthquakes struck, focusing much of its initial efforts in La Guaira, near the epicenter. Now, the team is working alongside TECHO, an organization specializing in emergency housing for vulnerable communities, to help families farther into the surrounding mountains who were also significantly impacted.
Over the weekend, teams and volunteers came together to construct emergency housing modules for families in need. Operation Blessing fully funded 16 homes and provided meals for volunteers working throughout the building process.

“Right now there are many people that don’t have homes. They don’t have access to resources and life was already pretty difficult here,” said Hayley Henson of Operation Blessing.
For these families, the earthquake has brought additional hardship to circumstances that were already difficult. The new dwellings will provide a place to begin rebuilding and moving forward.
A Partnership That Makes a Difference for Earthquake-Affected Families
Working alongside TECHO has allowed Operation Blessing to help bring practical assistance directly to families in this remote community. While the housing modules are still under construction, additional support is planned to help make the completed homes more livable, including water purification systems and furniture.

Henson expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside TECHO and help families take these first steps toward recovery.
“It’s been a wonderful experience, and we feel very fulfilled to be able to partner alongside them,” she said.
The work is a reminder that recovery takes more than time. It takes people willing to come alongside their neighbors, meet pressing needs, and help families find a way forward.
