CHINA — Can you imagine welcoming a new life into the world, only to be told to give up on your child because she is ill? This is exactly what happened to baby Yijia’s parents in China. Just days after sweet Yijia was born, she became incredibly sick. Her stomach was swollen, she suffered from a constant fever, and she often vomited. Desperate to help their young daughter, Yijia’s parents sought both traditional and nontraditional care.
A Desperate Need for Surgery
They rushed her to the emergency room, where they learned that Yijia’s intestines were twisted and preventing her from digesting food. Baby Yijia desperately needed surgery. Yijia’s parents were already drowning in debt. After losing their crops, they had to borrow money just to pay for their daughter’s birth. They pleaded with friends and family, but no one could loan them the additional $1,300 they needed to save their little girl’s life. “She was waiting for us to save her,” said Yijia’s father. “We knew if we took her home, she’d die within a few days.”

Thanks to friends like you, a miracle happened. Yijia’s parents were referred to Operation Blessing, and your kindness helped provide the lifesaving surgery Yijia had been waiting for. Through your compassionate support, a miracle of healing for Baby Yijia became possible. Following surgery, Yijia could eat and digest her food without any challenges. “She likes to play in the field and loves to laugh now,” said Yijia’s father.
