CHINA – Yuxuan dreamed of dancing like the other children. But every time she tried to run or play, she struggled to breathe. Born with a serious heart defect, Yuxuan spent most of her childhood weak, exhausted, and constantly sick. Although she underwent surgery as a baby, her heart and vascular system still were not functioning properly. Her body wasn’t receiving enough oxygen, leaving her unable to keep up with other children her age.
Sometimes, as she watched children dancing nearby, Yuxuan longed to join them. But after only moments of activity, she would lose her breath, and her lips would turn purple. Frequent fevers, clinic visits, IVs, and injections became a painful routine for her family.
Doctors eventually explained that they were only treating the symptoms—not the root cause threatening Yuxuan’s life. Without emergency surgery, her condition would continue to worsen.
Yuxuan’s parents were heartbroken. They worked tirelessly and saved every penny they could, but the surgery their daughter desperately needed was far beyond what they could afford. Then, hope arrived.
A nurse told the family about Operation Blessing, and because of the generosity of caring supporters, Yuxuan was finally able to receive lifesaving heart surgery. Doctors repaired her heart and restored proper blood flow throughout her body. Today, everything has changed.
Yuxuan is healthy, energetic, and full of life. She can finally run, dance, and dream about the future without fear. One day, she hopes to become a police officer so she can help other children the way she was helped.
“I can run, I can dance, I can go help other children now.”
