A Village Receives Safe Water that Changes Lives

KENYA – Every morning before sunrise, Meoly began a long and exhausting journey for water. She and her neighbors walked through dangerous wilderness, climbed steep hills, and crossed rocky terrain carrying heavy containers on their backs just to collect water for their families. By the time Meoly finally reached the water source, long lines of people were already waiting. Then came the even harder part — carrying the heavy water all the way back home. “I walk slowly and carefully because of the heavy water on my back,” Meoly shared.

Even after hours of walking, the water she collected was never enough. She needed it for cooking, cleaning, laundry, and caring for her livestock. Sometimes her grandchildren had to go to school without bathing and wearing dirty uniforms because there simply wasn’t enough water for everyone. And when the water ran out, Meoly had no choice but to make the exhausting journey all over again. “At the end of the day, every part of my body aches,” she said.

The Urgent Need for Safe Water that Changes Lives

Then Operation Blessing learned about Meoly’s village. Because of the kindness of compassionate supporters, Operation Blessing installed a solar-powered well system and water kiosk complete with a treatment system, bringing safe, clean water directly to the community. This safe water that changes lives is now transforming daily routines and restoring dignity for families.

A Future Transformed by Clean Water

Now everything has changed. Meoly and her neighbors finally have reliable access to clean water close to home. Her grandchildren can bathe whenever they need to, laundry is easier, and even their animals have enough water to drink. Most importantly, Meoly no longer spends her days making dangerous trips for water. “With the burden of trekking for water removed, I have time to rest,” she said.
