Texas Flood Survivor Recovery

Jul 13, 2026

TEXAS – On July 4, 2025, Kara’s life changed in an instant. As floodwaters from the Guadalupe River surged through Kerrville, Texas, emergency responders rushed through neighborhoods ordering residents to evacuate immediately.”Don’t pack a bag. Don’t get anything. Just get your dogs,” a firefighter told her. Kara barely made it out. Moments later, water burst through her home. “I opened this door, and the water came rushing in and pushed me backwards,” she recalled. “I could see my car bobbing like a float.”

A Devastating Loss in Kerrville

When the floodwaters finally receded, Kara returned to a heartbreaking scene. Three feet of water had torn through her home, destroying belongings, damaging walls, and washing away treasured memories accumulated over a lifetime. Standing beside the river that had changed everything, Kara pointed toward her home. “This is the river. This is my house. The river’s flowing through my house.” The overwhelming task of rebuilding felt impossible.

Texas Flood Survivor Recovery Begins

But she wasn’t alone. Operation Blessing arrived to help survivors recover and rebuild, providing critical support for Texas Flood Survivor Recovery efforts across the region. Through the generosity of compassionate supporters, Kara received essential building materials including drywall and insulation—supplies she desperately needed to begin restoring her home. “The people at Operation Blessing are remarkable,” Kara said. Because of the donated materials, walls that once stood ruined and waterlogged could be rebuilt. “I wouldn’t have these walls if Operation Blessing didn’t help me.”

Rebuilding Hope After Disaster

Today, Kara continues rebuilding her home and reclaiming what was lost. Her journey reflects the strength behind Texas Flood Survivor Recovery, where communities come together to restore both homes and hope. While the flood changed her life forever, the kindness of strangers reminded her she was not facing recovery alone. “It is a true blessing to have people like you and your group come in and help in the way that you did,” Kara shared. “Thank you so much.”

Through faithful support, Operation Blessing continues helping disaster survivors find hope, healing, and a path forward when they need it most—strengthening ongoing Texas Flood Survivor Recovery efforts for families like Kara’s.
