When the time comes to sell your business, consider choosing Operation Blessing and Orphan’s Promise as part of the plan to make a meaningful gift that works to transform the lives of children, families, and entire communities for the glory of God.
Benefits
- Maximize income tax deduction
- Reduce or eliminate capital gains tax
- Remove assets from your estate
- Leverage a single gift to achieve a range of charitable goals
How Does it Work?
If your business donates appreciated non-inventory property to a qualified charity, the business may receive a charitable income tax deduction equal to the property’s fair market value, subject to IRS deduction limits and reduction rules.
For C corporations, charitable deductions are generally limited to 10% of taxable income, with excess deductions typically carried forward for up to five years.
If the business is taxed as an S corporation, the charitable deduction generally passes through to shareholders in proportion to ownership interests. Because deduction treatment varies depending on the type of asset, entity structure, basis, and holding period, professional tax advice is recommended before donating corporate assets.
